Design Biography

“Furniture is an undeniable part of life.  Its very existence is at the heart of our aesthetic soul and our functional necessity.”    ―Bud Caywood

Bud Caywood studied furniture design at Randolph Technical Institute in Asheboro, North Carolina.  He is a freelance furniture designer who has worked in practically every creative area of the furniture industry since graduating college in 1971.  His professional career has taken him to work with creative people in many parts of the world including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Italy, Mexico, Uruguay, and The Philippines. Much of his creative influences are seeds from the cultures of these unique places.  He is the recipient of several furniture design awards, including the Daphne Award of Merit by The Hardwoods Association and the Pinnacle Design Award by The American Society of Furniture Designers, where he served as Executive Director from 1991-1993.  Many of his designs of furniture are featured in national magazines and on-line publications.
