Art Biography

“Vision is the work in the mind of a creative person, a human being, who is compelled to take into them what they see outside, and from their free center believe in it, expose it, and put their human stamp on it, without fear of ridicule from their peers.”   ―Bud Caywood

Bud Caywood was born in Paterson, New Jersey in 1950 and has been creating art since childhood.  He moved to North Carolina in 1969 and now lives in Alexander County where he remains active in the arts community creating art and supporting the arts.  His art has won awards as judged by Juan Logan, Toni Carlton, Jim Kellough, Vandorn Hinnant, and James H. Sanders.  In 1969, while in high school, his work received the highest recognition winning awards in the New Jersey Arts & Crafts Competition in three categories: furniture design, jewelry, and sculpture.  His work encompasses many mediums and mixed-mediums including acrylic, plaster, mortar, encaustic and just about anything that will adhere to canvas.  His work hangs in many private collections and businesses.
